Boundary Waters

I spent the first week of August 2006 on the clear waters of Minnesota. Seven of us took a Wilderness Wind canoe and camping trip together along with two guides from Wilderness Wind. I realized that it doesn't take a whole lot for a person to be satisified in life. There are many little details in nature that can keep your mind humming for hours. Living out in the untouched wilderness is a wonderful experience. That is about all I can say in a few words. It is too bad many people don't know what it is like without electricity and gadgets. (I do now. :)) You all will have to go experience the Boundary Waters sometime.

This is how we portaged with the canoes between lakes. One took the canoe, the other took to backpacks.

Monday afternoon it poured sheets of horizonal rain. We then had to start a fire with wet wood. Fun!

Twice a day we had to filter water out of the lake.

Beautiful wilderness! Dad, you would love it!!

During the week we sang together, cooked and ate, paddled, laughed and sat alone in silence.

Amen.

Awesome!! I remember doing that!! Did you hear any loons? See any moose (meese)? Bears? It would be fun to do it again. Looks like a crazy group you went with. :)

We did see loons, beaves, herons, muscrats, deer, gray jays, bald eagles and cows (in Wisconsin).
Some of us saw a moose bed, and we ate bear for dinner one night. We heard the wolves teaching their young how to howl like crazy!!

I don't know if that is for me?
Looks pretty, but the bugs, bees and bears don't appeal so much.
